Thanks to the Trainee Trader for doing a little ranking of finance blogs and their readability this past week. It turns out that, among 39 other finance blogs, The Curious Investor ranks with just 7 others for a “Genius” reading level. For a complete list, check out the original post. Each site was ranked using The Blog Readability Test which is a free tool that you can use to rank any site you want.
I’m not sure if it’s a bad thing to have the blog’s readability ranked so highly. It doesn’t help that the site for the readability test doesn’t give any details on how it ranks sites. My goals with this site were always as follows:
- Provide an introduction to investing topics not usually touched upon by other sites for beginning investors
- Provide the chance to explore topics in more depth than usually found at websites for non-professional investors
- Write quality content free of grammatical, spelling, and logical errors
But, most importantly, I want to have a site/blog which people at any level of investing expertise can read and understand. So, if my readers would like to provide some feedback, I’d like to solicit some this weekend. Is this site too hard to read? Am I touching on topics that are interesting to you? What would you like to see me do with this blog going forward - more tutorials, more market commentary, more company analysis? Fire away. Be as critical as you like.
